There are queer sites and spaces that are absolutely sacred.
It’s important that we notice them and name them and claim them as such. Queerness is an integral part of the story of faith and our queerness is a good and holy thing.
Fire Island is one such queer sacred site.
I recently returned from a week vacation with my NYC queer family on Fire Island and that experience prompted me to think about queer sacred sites — that our queerness shouldn’t be separate from our faith, that the two are intertwined, and how the divine is uniquely present in queerness.
